The Plans Committee
The Plans Committee meets fortnightly on a Wednesday morning. This Committee has delegated authority to make recommendations to Suffolk Coastal District Council concerning all planning applications submitted in the Parish of Felixstowe and authority to consider and make responses concerning all other planning matters.

The Finance and General Purposes Committee meets at 7.30 pm on the Wednesday a fortnight before every Council meeting. The Committee considers all Town Council business with the exception of planning, the newsletter and issues delegated to the Town Members Committee.

The Town Members Committee meets when necessary and has delegated authority to make decisions and act on all matters on which members who are “two hatted” members of Felixstowe Town Council and Suffolk Coastal District Council are disqualified because of their prejudicial interest. All members of the Town Council who are not members of Suffolk Coastal District Council are members of this Committee.

Sub-Committees & Working Party Membership Back to top
Sub-committees and Working Parties are established from time to time. The current sub-committees are: Finance, Cemetery and Allotments, Play Areas and Felixstowe in Flower. There is a Community Services Group Working Party which deals with health and social care matters. Town Council Sub-Committee and Working Party Meetings usually take place in the evening. Members are appointed to Sub-Committees and Working Parties by the Finance and General Purposes Committee.
The Town Council also appoints representatives to a wide range of joint committees and outside bodies. These appointments are made at the Annual General Meeting of the Council.
