New affordable housing and landscaping works planned for Felixstowe
Orwell Housing Association have been working closely in partnership with Suffolk Coastal District Council to draw up some proposals to provide some much needed affordable housing on land off Charles Rd in Felixstowe as well as providing an improved landscaping scheme for surrounding land.
Orwell have commissioned architects and landscape designers to draw up a scheme which will see the provision of 10 new affordable homes to be let to local people as well as a package of landscaping works which will enhance the surrounding landscape. The landscaping works will include the provision of a wildflower meadow an improved village green space, tree planting, foot path links, an improved horse paddock.
The site is currently owned by Suffolk Coastal District Council who have confirmed that Felixstowe is one of the areas of highest demand in the District for affordable housing. Suffolk Coastal are therefore working with its partner Housing Associations to enable the provision of new affordable homes using there own land assets where available to address the high levels of housing need.
Orwell will be holding a consultation session to discuss their proposals in the Royal British Legion Hall on 29th October from 3pm to 7pm where residents will be able to view the proposals in detail, meet with the designers involved and representatives from Orwell and give feedback.
