Felixstowe Peninsula Area Action Plan

Preferred Options public consultation (19 October – 30 November 2015)

Suffolk Coastal has prepared two Local Plan documents for public consultation which members of the public, town and parish councils, landowners, agents and statutory stakeholders are invited to comment on.   The documents are the Felixstowe Peninsula Area Action Plan and the Site Allocations and Area Specific Policies (the second document covers the entire district, outside of the Felixstowe Peninsula). The consultation period is for six weeks from Monday 19 October until 5pm on Monday 30 November 2015.

The two documents are being prepared to assist in the delivery of the Core Strategy adopted in July 2013. Following the Issues and Options consultation earlier in the year the Council is now setting out the Preferred Options for comment.   The Preferred Options documents provide the detail with regards to future residential allocations, employment allocations, retail provision and tourism provision amongst other issues such as those areas to where protection from development is the priority across the district.  Together they provide a comprehensive approach to the future growth and development across the district.

Felixstowe Peninsula Area Action Plan.

This document focuses on the communities across the Felixstowe Peninsula, primarily Felixstowe, Trimley St Mary, Trimley St Martin, Kirton and Bucklesham.  Residential allocations are proposed on a variety of sites, as well as the designation of employment land and areas to be protected from development.  Retail, tourism and environment policies are also included which all seek to enhance and promote the Felixstowe Peninsula.  Sustainability Appraisal Information and Alternative Options are also provided throughout to aid understanding and clearly set out the Council’s approach.

The Preferred Options consultation documents are also supported by the following documents

  • Interim Sustainability Appraisal Reports,
  • Habitats Regulation Reports,
  • Analysis of Responses to the Issues and Options Consultation,

Each of these documents is available to view at the Council’s main office in Woodbridge and at local libraries across the district (as well as Halesworth).  The documents can also be found on the Planning Policy pages of the Suffolk Coastal website and also through the Council’s online consultation software (JDi).  Anybody wishing to access the documents online can do so through this link: http://www.suffolkcoastal.gov.uk/yourdistrict/planning/policy/
