Felixstowe Town Council first introduced the Felixstowe in Flower scheme in 1985 to support the whole community in transforming the town with flowers each summer.  In the first year 60 hanging baskets were sponsored by local firms and organisations and from these small beginnings a comprehensive community scheme has developed.

Felixstowe in Flower is a partnership which involves the whole community, supported by sponsorship and encourages people of all ages to care for their environment.  Our partners include local businesses, community groups, schools and individuals who are each able to participate in different ways.

This year will be the 36th Anniversary of Felixstowe in Flower and we hope that it’ll be our biggest year yet, like last year we won’t be able to celebrate in the usual way with a public launch at the Triangle or an Awards Ceremony.  However we are hoping to break some records with public participation as more than ever the flowers throughout Felixstowe will help brighten up the town, as life hopefully returns to some normality.

Spring will coincide with the launch of our campaign to help you show off your own floral and environmentally conscious projects.  We will be welcoming all manner of photos, from hanging baskets and window boxes to full front gardens.  Our local business will also be joining in the fun.

Watch out for announcements via newsposts on our website, Facebook and Twitter to find out how you can get involved…

Calling All Gardeners and Businesses!

It’s never too early to start prepping your gardens and submitting photos and videos for us to share.  This year we would like to create a walking trail around the town to show some of our best Gardens, so please contact us if you are interested in being included in this.

Further information about Felixstowe in Flower is available from sue.faversham@felixstowe.gov.uk.

The following is a list of our Sponsors for 2019 (sponsorship for 2020 was rolled over to 2021).  This year donations are being requested instead of the normal charges which started at £50 (inclusive of VAT) for a basket which covers the purchase, installation, maintenance and watering of the display plus a branded name plaque indicating your support!  All sponsors are acknowledged and thanked normally at the Felixstowe in Flower Awards ceremony, but this year on our website and Summer Magazine.

Huge thanks to the East of England Co-Op Funeral Services,  our main sponsor for 2019 and provider of gro-bags and sunflower seeds to the schools.

And thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors for 2019 (as of 01/10/2019)

Though the scheme comes to life in the summer months, it is a year-round effort.  The scheme is reviewed in the Winter in ready for spring preparations and following the summer displays all the competition winners are honoured at the Felixstowe in Flower Awards Ceremony normally held in the Autumn.  Around two-hundred people of all ages and from all sections of the community attend this Oscar-style ceremony to celebrate the wonderful contribution made to our town by so many people.  The 2019 ceremony took place at Felixstowe Academy; see a list of all the winners here and a photo-gallery of the event below.  Unfortunately due to Covid it will not take place in 2020 or 2021.
