Help us to celebrate Suffolk Day in Felixstowe

Posted by Town Hall Staff 26 April 2019

We are delighted that the town of Felixstowe has been chosen to host the launch of Suffolk Day 2019, which is held on the longest day of the year, 21st June. As it falls on a Friday this year, everyone is encouraged to spread their celebration of all things Suffolk over the weekend too.

On Friday 21st, BBC Radio Suffolk’s Mark Murphy’s live radio show will be broadcast from 7am in the Town Hall Gardens where he will be welcomed to the town by the Mayor of Felixstowe. The proclamation will be read out from the Town Hall steps live on air at 9.45am, followed by the raising of the Suffolk flag. Felixstowe Town Council will be holding an afternoon tea party outside the Town Hall from 2pm to 4pm, serving free homemade cakes and tea – all are welcome to attend. In the evening, St. Elizabeth Hospice will be hosting their annual ‘Suffolk Remembers’ event in The Seafront Gardens at 9pm.

On Saturday 22nd, the launch of Felixstowe in Flower will be held at the Felixstowe Triangle Canopy in the Town Centre. There will be various stalls, displays and Fresh Gold Radio. Discover Landguard will also be in attendance with information and artefacts from Landguard Fort, Felixstowe Museum and Landguard Nature Reserve.

We would love to hear about all the Suffolk-celebrating events and activities taking place in Felixstowe over the weekend of 21-23rd June.

So if you are a local business, community group or resident who is planning a Suffolk Day event, please let us know. We will be publishing a programme for the weekend and promoting this via the Town Council and Visit Felixstowe websites and our social media pages. The deadline for inclusion is Friday 17 May 2019.
